Recipe // Quick Blueberry Balsamic Maple Jam

YOU GUYS. The man of the house is making bread now.  And it's really f-ing good.  We got the Tartine Bread bible/book from the bookstore the other day on special order and he has been feeding his starter ever since.  He even got a babysitter for it while we head home to Wisconsin and Kentucky for a couple of weeks.

It took him about three weeks to work up to making some bread and honestly it came out so good on the first try.

Meanwhile, I felt pretty useless in the bakery so I ended up making some quick blueberry jam with the cup of blueberries that we had lying around and it was actually super yummy...

Quick Blueberry Balsamic Maple Jam
(makes a small jar)

1 cup                            blueberries
1 tablespoon                 good balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons                maple syrup
1/2 cup                         orange juice
1/4 cup                         granulated sugar

Add all ingredients to a heavy bottomed pot and bring to a boil, mashing the blueberries as you go with a whisk.  Stir to make sure everything is dissolved and continue boiling for a few minutes until reduced and jammy.  Remove the pan from the heat and let cool for a few minutes before transferring to a jam jar.  Let cool to room temperature, stirring occasionally. Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to two weeks.
